Position: Attendance Officer
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Qualifications: 1. High school diploma (minimum)
- Two years prior school experience
- Ability to utilize existing computer technology and software.
- Professional standards which will allow presentations and communications with social service agencies, parents and professionals.
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
Job Overview: To maintain an accurate record of all students attending MaST Community Charter School and to investigate, monitor, and follow existing board policy governing student attendance and consequences for truant students.
Responsibilities:
- Monitors daily attendance rates to ensure a 95% daily rate. Reports findings to the CEO.
- Reports to appropriate principal when a student is absent more than ten (10) consecutive school days.
- Development and implementation of an attendance incentive program. Monitors weekly attendance by homeroom and assigns points, rewards, etc.
- Monitors each individual student’s attendance for excessive absences, tardiness and non-submission of excuse notes.
- Monitors and codes excused absences, i.e., long-term absences with home schooling, college visits, religious holidays, etc.
- Provides assistance to homeroom teachers with attendance coding and input corrections and/or additions.
- Issues parent/guardian letters for students in non-compliance with the Student Handbook regarding attendance policies.
- Meets with parents/guardian of students who exceed the absence/tardy guidelines and places students on attendance probation.
- Arranges a hearing with the Discipline Committee of the Board of Trustees if a student’s absences/tardiness persists.
- Prepares reports and attendance histories for each student that will be attending a hearing for each Discipline Committee member prior to the hearing.
- Attends Discipline Committee meetings and implements recommendations of the members.
- Follow-up with parents/guardians to ensure recommendations are being followed and takes necessary steps if not.
- File all correspondence generated in reference to attendance in student files.
Terms of Employment: Twelve (12) months. Contract terms and salary to be determined by the Board of Trustees.
