The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Risk Analyst to join our Enterprise Risk Management team at MassMutual Ascend. In this role, you will support the equity hedging program for our annuity portfolio by assisting with risk analysis, data modeling, and valuation processes. You'll collaborate with teams across pricing, finance, and operations to ensure effective risk management. This position has a hybrid work schedule based out of our downtown Cincinnati office.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Risk Analyst to join our Enterprise Risk Management team at MassMutual Ascend. In this role, you will support the equity hedging program for our annuity portfolio by assisting with risk analysis, data modeling, and valuation processes. You'll collaborate with teams across pricing, finance, and operations to ensure effective risk management. This position has a hybrid work schedule based out of our downtown Cincinnati office.
Job Responsibilities
- Regularly gathers and aggregates indexed annuity hedge purchase data in an accurate and efficient manner.
- Develops and updates ERM reporting metrics related to risk position, especially as it relates to the hedging of annuities, then communicates results to senior management.
- Supports the evaluation of potential future hedging strategies and assists in the development and implementation of new strategies.
- Supports the production of ERM risk dashboards.
- Builds relationships with Product Development, Financial Reporting, Solvency and Capital Analytics, and Investment Management.
- Communicates results to management effectively.
- Develops knowledge of indexed deferred annuity products.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or related field
- 2-4 years of relevant experience in financial or actuarial fields
- Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge required
- Strong computer skills and problem-solving ability
- Good communication skills and attention to details are essential
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Deferred annuity experience, in particular, indexed annuity products
- Familiarity with equity derivatives
- Strong working knowledge of SQL, including the ability to write complex queries and manipulate large datasets for reporting and analysis.
