Position Summary
Massanutten Academy seeks an experienced, strategic, and relationship-driven Director of Admissions to lead the school's recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts. Reporting directly to the Head of School, the Director provides leadership for all aspects of the admissions process, from initial inquiry through enrollment, while overseeing the admissions team and supporting the Academy's long-term enrollment strategy.
The Director serves as a key member of the school's leadership team, developing and executing recruitment initiatives, cultivating relationships with prospective families and educational partners, and ensuring a highly personalized admissions experience that reflects the mission and values of Massanutten Academy. The position also works closely with colleagues across academics, marketing, communications, and student life to achieve enrollment goals and strengthen the Academy's presence in domestic and international markets.

Essential ResponsibilitiesEnrollment Strategy & Leadership
· Lead the Academy's enrollment strategy, overseeing recruitment, enrollment, and retention of mission-appropriate students.
· Develop and manage the admissions pipeline from inquiry through enrollment, establishing annual enrollment targets and long-term strategic goals.
· Analyze enrollment trends and data to inform forecasting, recruitment strategies, and continuous improvement.
· Participate in institutional planning, budgeting, and strategic enrollment discussions.
· Supervise, mentor, and support the professional development of admissions staff.
Recruitment & Relationship Management
· Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective families, educational consultants, placement counselors, feeder schools, community organizations, alumni, and parent ambassadors.
· Represent Massanutten Academy at school fairs, recruitment events, and other outreach activities requiring regional and occasional international travel.
· Serve as a primary ambassador for the Academy, clearly articulating its mission, educational philosophy, and boarding school experience.
Prospective Family Experience
· Oversee all aspects of the admissions process, ensuring a personalized, responsive, and mission-aligned experience.
· Conduct interviews, campus tours, open houses, webinars, overnight visits, and other recruitment events.
· Manage admissions decisions and communications with professionalism, honesty, and care.
· Lead strategies to improve enrollment yield and conversion throughout the admissions cycle.
Marketing & Communications
· Partner with the Communications and Marketing Office to align admissions messaging across print, digital, social media, and recruitment campaigns.
· Help develop compelling recruitment materials and authentic student-centered content that communicates the value of a Massanutten education.
Admissions Operations
· Oversee admissions systems and databases, including Blackbaud, SLATE, SAO, and related enrollment platforms.
· Ensure accurate application processing, data integrity, reporting, and communication workflows.
· Maintain efficient office procedures and continually improve systems that enhance the experience of prospective families and staff.
Community Engagement
· Serve on the Admissions Committee and evaluate applicants through a holistic review process.
· Recruit, train, and supervise student ambassadors and tour guides.
· Participate fully in the life of the school, including selected evening and weekend events.
· Perform other duties that support the Academy's enrollment goals and institutional priorities.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree required.
· Experience leading admissions, enrollment management, or recruitment efforts, preferably at an independent day or boarding school.
· Demonstrated success developing enrollment strategies and meeting recruitment goals.
· Experience supervising staff and leading collaborative teams.
· Strong technology skills, including enrollment management systems such as Blackbaud, SLATE, or comparable platforms.
· Ability to analyze enrollment data and use insights to guide decision-making.
· Understanding of contemporary enrollment marketing, digital communications, and social media.
· Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking skills.
· Exceptional organizational skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
· Personal warmth, professionalism, integrity, and commitment to working with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
· Ability to pass all required federal, state, and applicable background checks.

Position Details
This is a full-time, 12-month administrative position reporting to the Head of School. The anticipated start date is July 2026.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
