Executive Director-Treasurer

Massachusetts Teachers Association
Quincy, MA Full Time
POSTED ON 10/22/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/20/2026

OVERVIEW

The Massachusetts Teachers Association(MTA) represents over 116,000 educators and nearly 400 locals across the state and employs over 180 full-time staff. Our members are teachers, education support professionals, counselors, social workers, bus drivers, and more in preK-12 public schools, and faculty and staff in the state’s public colleges and universities. As a member-driven organization and the largest union in New England, our collective power makes MTA an influential voice for educators, students, and their communities. MTA’s innovative approach to democratized bargaining, contract action teams, and rank and file organizing has resulted in groundbreaking gains for our members. And historic victories won through coalition efforts, such as a ballot initiatives raising taxes on the wealthy and ending high stakes standardized testing to fund public schools and colleges, have raised standards for communities across the state. MTA is a leading educator union in the country for progressive issues and successes. We are proud to be an advocate for social, racial and economic justice and for a public education system that provides one of the cornerstones of a thriving, equitable, and democratic society.

  • Foster an organizational culture that promotes collaboration and unity and centers the values of racial, economic, and gender justice.

Fiscal Management and Employee Relations

  • Ensure the financial integrity and sustainability of the Association’s operating budget and reserves and serve as the custodian of all the funds, reserves, and investments, as well as providing oversight of the pension plan.
  • Collaborate with the Advisory Budget Committee, Chief Financial Officer and other appropriate stakeholders to develop and administer the annual budget, and to establish appropriate internal controls, oversight, and policies and procedures in the finance and accounting division.
  • Exercise oversight of all staff, working with the organization’s three internal staff unions, to implement the strategic goals and objectives of the Board of Directors.
