Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC), part of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), is seeking a Nursing Administrator to serve as an essential leader in advancing exceptional care for pediatric and young adult patients with complex physical and rehabilitative needs. This role oversees nursing and respiratory therapy services while shaping the strategic direction of clinical operations in collaboration with senior leadership. With a strong focus on innovation, quality improvement, and compassionate care, the Nursing Administrator ensures that every patient receives high-quality, coordinated, and family-centered services within a supportive and multidisciplinary environment.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a dedicated team, influence care at a systems level, and make a lasting impact on the lives of patients and their families.

Base schedule is Monday through Friday, with weekend and off shift on call rotation.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all-inclusive):

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all nursing and respiratory therapy services, ensuring high-quality, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care aligned with PRHC’s mission.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care in compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Lead recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management of nursing and respiratory therapy staff to promote excellence, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Oversee patient care operations, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation, to ensure optimal coverage and responsiveness to patient acuity and census.
  • Direct and evaluate quality improvement initiatives, utilizing clinical metrics and incident reviews to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Hospital Administrator and executive leadership team on strategic planning, budgeting, and operational decision-making.
  • Maintain effective interdisciplinary communication, fostering collaboration among medical staff, allied health professionals, and hospital departments.
  • Participate actively in hospital committees and leadership forums, contributing to policy development, utilization review, and organizational initiatives.
  • Represent nursing services in labor relations, community engagement, and professional forums, promoting a positive and inclusive organizational culture.
  • Serve as an accessible and visible leader across all clinical areas, modeling professionalism, integrity, and commitment to patient- and family-centered care.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of senior-level management experience in a hospital or healthcare setting, with preference for pediatric or rehabilitation experience.
  • Proven expertise in quality improvement, performance management, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and clinical standards.
  • Demonstrated success in workforce planning, including scheduling, staffing, and resource optimization to meet patient care needs.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and team-building skills with a strong ability to foster collaboration, engagement, and a positive workplace culture.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and continuous improvement, with a strategic and solution-oriented approach to organizational challenges.
