Eligibility: Current MCLA students in good standing; availability from Sunday, August 23 at 9am through Thursday, August 28. Ambassadors must be fully present and engaged in all scheduled MCLA Bridge Program activities, participating both as mentors and as active members of the community.

Role Overview

The MCLA Bridge Ambassador serves as a peer mentor, guide, and community leader for incoming students participating in the Bridge Program. Ambassadors play an active role in shaping a welcoming, inclusive, and empowering environment by modeling positive engagement, supporting students' academic and social transition, and fostering a sense of belonging.

This is a temporary/seasonal leadership role for the duration of the Bridge Program, August 23?28, 2026.

Job Description

Core Essential Responsibilities:
Serve as a peer mentor and positive role model for incoming MCLA students
Mentor students and provide advice for successful transition to college as well as within specific college-related activities (e.g., classroom setting, residences)
Support program staff with administrative tasks and event coordination
Engage and guide students to participate in the 5-day MCLA Bridge program both on and off the MCLA campus
Encourage and model participation, meaningful engagement, and community building
Provide guidance on navigating campus resources and student services
Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment
Independently initiate, encourage, and facilitate individual engagement and group activities in varies locations, outdoors, dining halls, common spaces, classrooms, community spaces (on and off campus)
Identify student needs and communicate concerns or observations to professional staff and faculty, ensuring students receive appropriate support.

Additional Essential Responsibilities

Participate in training which may include van driver certification, but is optional
Assist in planning, organizing, and hosting workshops and events, contributing ideas and energy to daily program operations.
Collaborates with residential staff to support student safety, well-being, and a smooth transition into residential life
Assist with general office tasks
Attend ambassador meetings and contribute to team communication
Support program assessment, including surveys and evaluation activities

Requirements

Current student in good academic standing
Proficiency in, or willingness to learn, Microsoft Office programs
Availability for the full duration of the MCLA Bridge program
(Helpful but not required) Van certification or valid driver license

Additional Information:
Until further notice, in response to the Presidential proclamation, issued on September 19, 2025, imposing a significant fee on the entry of individuals with new H-1B visas, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

This position is only open to current MCLA students.
