Program Overview:
The Strong Women, Strong Girls (SWSG) mentorship program is a community-based initiative run through Girls Inc. and facilitated in partnership with Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) and Colgrove Park Elementary School in North Adams. This program empowers young girls to recognize their strengths, build confidence, and foster leadership skills through mentorship and positive role modeling.

Each semester, MCLA student mentors are paired with elementary school girls in grades 3 - 5 to engage in weekly sessions focused on self-esteem, teamwork, goal setting, and leadership. Together, mentors and mentees create a supportive space where girls can explore their potential and grow into strong, confident individuals.

Position Summary:
SWSG Mentors serve as role models, leaders, and supporters to a small group of elementary school girls. Mentors facilitate structured weekly sessions centered around themes of empowerment, resilience, and community engagement, while fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment that encourages growth and self-expression.

Job Requirements:
Responsibilities:
Attend all scheduled weekly mentorship sessions at Colgrove Elementary School (Tuesdays, 3:15pm - 5:15pm) including additional time for training, preparation, and reflection as scheduled.
Facilitate small group activities, discussions, and reflection exercises based on the Girls Inc./SWSG curriculum.
Model strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
Build positive, trusting relationships with mentees and fellow mentors.
Participate in mentor orientation, training sessions, and reflection meetings hosted by MCLA's Volunteer Center.
Support program evaluation efforts through attendance tracking and reflection forms.
Adhere to all CORI/SORI and fingerprinting requirements prior to program start.

Qualifications:
Current MCLA student in good academic and disciplinary standing.
Female-identifying students or those comfortable in a female-empowered space are encouraged to apply.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
Reliable, responsible, and committed to consistent attendance.
Passionate about youth development, mentoring, and empowerment.
