HOUSEKEEPER/FLOOR CARE TECH
SUMMARY: Hospital housekeepers are responsible for sustaining a sterile environment in all areas of the hospital by cleaning rooms, replenishing linens and maintaining floors.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Using various cleaning chemicals and disinfectants, cleans patient rooms, nursing units, administrative offices, laboratory areas, waiting areas and public restrooms, including: wipe equipment, clean furniture, polish floors and vacuum carpets, launder hospital linen.
- Follow MMH policy and procedures and DHS guidelines to cleanse, disinfect and dispose of medical waste.
- Manage inventory of general housekeeping supplies, i.e., soap dispensers, toilet paper, paper towels etc. and ensure these supplies are readily available during hours of operation.
- Ensure free flow of facility drains and address biofilm as appropriate
- Collect dirty laundry from all patient areas and distribute clean linens and hospital gowns to appropriate floors.
- Strip, scrub, mop, burnish, wax, seal and/or maintain various floor surfaces in assigned areas throughout the hospital.
- Spot, extract, bonnet, dry and maintain carpeted and upholstered surfaces.
- Clean and maintain floor care equipment
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Must be able to read and write and follow both written and verbal directions. High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: Minimum of one year experience in housekeeping/floor care is preferred.
