What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aquatic Technician I position at Massa Aquatic Science Associates?
Massa Aquatic Science Associates is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Aquatic Technician I's to support field operations in beautiful Yuba County. Temporary full time and part time weekend positions are available. These positions play a critical role in protecting local aquatic resources from the spread of invasive species such as the golden mussel and quagga/zebra mussels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of watercraft for aquatic invasive species (AIS) prior to launch.
- Collect biological and environmental data and maintain detailed field notes.
- Support public education and outreach efforts to prevent the spread of AIS.
- Follow standardized inspection and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications:
- Interest or background in aquatic biology, natural resource management, or environmental science.
- Strong observational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a field team.
- Comfortable working outdoors in variable conditions, including on or near water.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience identifying aquatic organisms or working with invasive species.
- Working around boats and watercraft (not required but a plus).
- Previous experience with field data collection and electronic tablet use.
Compensation:
Hourly wage is $22/hour
