Job Description
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE: To provide school bus transportation that safely and efficiently meets the needs of the students and schools.
DUTIES And RESPONSIBILITIES
- Transport students safely to and from school, on field trips, and extracurricular trips as assigned on a timely basis.
- Operate school bus in accordance with the School Board policies.
- Maintain appropriate standards of conduct for students riding buses and enforce bus rules as listed on the Bus Privilege form in the bus folder.
- Maintain a Maine Commercial Driver’s License with P & S endorsements.
- Maintain cleanliness of bus, inside and outside, as described in Driver’s Maintenance List of Rules in the bus folder.
- Check daily on the mechanical condition of the bus, and report immediately any discrepancies to the head mechanic: keep a daily record on the Pre-Trip Inspection Procedures form and submit completed form to transportation office weekly.
- Maintain operating records forms, logging miles driven, gas and oil used, and repairs made: submit completed form to transportation office weekly/monthly.
- Maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, teachers, and administration to maintain the highest level of service and control.
- Ensure that updated bus route information is on the bus and in the transportation office at all times.
- Perform food truck duties, custodial duties in building and grounds as assigned during non-driving hours, non-student days, and school vacations (full-time employees only).
- When assigned to custodial, grounds, or food service duties, individuals must meet the qualifications and perform those duties as listed in those specific job descriptions. Must also meet the qualifications as described in the custodial, grounds, and food service job descriptions.
- Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned.
- Must have a valid Maine State CDL driver's License with S & P and air brake endorsements
- Must pass a driver's physical
- Must pass a drug and alcohol test, subject to random drug and alcohol testing
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must have a High School Diploma/equivalent preferred
