What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machining Journeyman position at MASS PRECISION INC?
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Journeyman is responsible for overseeing the setup of multiple work centers in a given day. The Journeyman can complete a part from start to finish, including ordering materials / tools, programing, setting up machines, deburring and inspection. They can train employees up to set up tech level and can oversee multiple employees during production. They will be assigned difficult jobs and advanced machine centers while providing support to lower-level employees across the shop. This job description is not necessarily all-inclusive. Other job duties may be assigned, and/or area(s) of focus may change according to business needs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Read and comprehend instructions.
• Adheres to all company and departmental policies and procedures.
• Notify leadership on issues with malfunctioning or defective parts
• Maintain Customers and MASS Quality requirements
• Regularly perform repetitive tasks
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Practicing 6S at all times.
• Ensures the continual flow of parts through complex work centers.
• Reviews IPI’s being filled out and that employees are clocked in to a job while production and quality are being met.
• Reviews programs for technical errors and improvements.
• Ability to effectively communicate directly with Supervisor/ Manager.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPEREINCE
• Training includes multiple topics that aren’t usually taken by the majority of set up techs, including areas of Safety, Quality and productivity.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Consider content experts in their field.
• Set-up and operate multiple processes and or machines in the employee’s immediate department.
• Ability to problem solve issues that arise that require immediate understanding of what the problem is and how to stop it from happening.
• Ability to understand and contribute to a long term fix of problems that arise.
• Minimizing the risk of injury before it happens or preventing future events.
• Minimizing the risk of defects before they occur or preventing future defects.
• Flexible to work in other areas when needed.
• Advanced knowledge of manufacturing principles
• Advanced machine knowledge, problem solving skills, blueprint reading, use of inspection instruments, use of hand tools and interpretation of written instructions.
• Basic programming skills.
• Use of inspection equipment, some deburring tools
• Must always use the required PPE when on the job.
• Must always take safety into consideration when on the job.
• Ability to train for growth.
WORKING CONDITIONS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Sense of urgency at all times, fast paced, loud noise, climate controlled facility.
• Noise protection equipment may be required for some processes.
• Lift over 50lb occasionally.
HOURS / SHIFTS
First Shift: 5AM – 1:30PM M-F
Second Shift: 1:30PM – 10:00PM M-F
Salary : $30 - $42
