Swing Shift M-F 1pm -9pm
Job Summary
Psychiatric triage for all levels of care for McLean Hospital units on and off-site, certain McLean affiliates, MGB facilities, and capitated contracts. Provides teaching function for all evaluating clinicians regarding payers and precertification requirements, as well as a teaching/consulting role to junior psychiatric triage staff.

Education Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes Licenses and Credentials Experience Experience working in a mental healthcare setting 3-5 years required and Experience as a Psych Admissions Coordinator I 1-2 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Demonstrated strong interviewing skills, clinical knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and treatment, data entry, excellent interpersonal communication via telephone and in person, with a high degree of comfort working with a psychiatric population. - Must be able to handle sensitive information with discretion and good judgment, knowledge of computer terminal, EPIC and Microsoft Teams preferred. - Keyboarding.

Essential Functions
- Facilitates inpatient admission for psychiatric and substance abuse referrals across four campuses 24/7/365.
- Interviews the patient, family member, or referring professional to obtain clinical and demographic data following the established admission procedure.
- Provides MGB-wide bed search following established triage procedure.
- Continually reassess census and bed availability.
- Completes financial screening according to established procedure.
- Enters patient information into EPIC completely and accurately.
- Maintains confidentiality of the department's information and contributes to the effective operation of the department.
- Completes admitting paperwork.
- Interacts with departmental hospital staff in a professional and cooperative manner.
