Job Summary
The Pathology Imaging Technician’s primary role is operating and maintaining Pathology Imaging platforms within the Pathology Department in alignment with department objectives. This includes operation of scanning devices and supporting software as well as Image Management and Laboratory Information Systems. This role ensures the efficient functioning of whole slide imaging technology and supporting systems for clinical, research, and educational purposes.
Qualifications
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
High School Diploma or Equivalent required - Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Field Of Study
Chemical, physical or biological science, computer science/IT, medical technology, clinical laboratory science and/or related coursework.
Licenses And Credentials
Digital Pathology (DPA) Certificate preferred.

Qualifications
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Operates and maintains various digital slide imaging instrument platforms.
- Engage with Image Management Systems, AP LIS, and other software platforms as required to support pathology imaging workflows.
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and appropriately escalate issues related to digital imaging hardware and software, ensuring minimal downtime. Performs routine maintenance on imaging equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Monitor image quality and react as needed to achieve optimal results.
- Prepares pathology glass slides for digital scanning. This includes organizing, inspecting, cleaning, and labeling slides.
- Assists in validation and testing of digital pathology platforms.
- Support faculty and staff in implementing digital imaging in research projects, teaching initiatives, and clinical diagnostics.
- Assist in the retrieval and delivery of glass slides as needed.
- Follows established protocols, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines.

Experience
- Direct Pathology laboratory experience preferred.
- Hospital or other healthcare experience preferred.
- Comfortable working with complex digital imaging platforms and data management systems.
- The ability to assess image details (color, focus, orientation, contrast, brightness) for quality control purposes.
- Comfortable working with human tissues and clinical specimens.
- Strong organizational skills with a commitment and ability to learn and adapt to advances in digital pathology.
- Proficient in MS Office, MS Outlook, and MS Teams.
- The ability to stand for extended periods and to walk frequently throughout the facility to support the operation.
- Ability to work under minimal direct supervision.
