What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Emergency Department position at Mass General Brigham Medical Group Northern Mass?
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for assessing and managing various patient populations, including those with medical and/or surgical conditions, as well as providing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, developing appropriate plans of care, and conducting ongoing evaluations. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners.

Essential Functions
-Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
-Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
-Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
-Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
-Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
-Consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
-Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse [APRN-NP - State License] - Generic - HR Only required
Experience
2 years of licensed nurse practitioner experience
Pediatric nurse practitioner board certification preferred
BLS/PALS certification required
3 years of Pediatric experiencein an emergency department or urgent care environment required
Successful candidates should have experience with pediatric wound repair/suturing, treatment of orthopedic injuries, incision and drainage, as well as prior experience with pediatric mental health
