Our Cook is responsible for the following:
- Provides an enjoyable dining experience for our residents while maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe environment.
- Completes dining services duties in a timely manner as assigned by supervisor in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures. Responsible for overseeing the preparation and cooking of all food items to the highest quality standards. Responsible for monitoring meals and to take appropriate corrective actions in response to identified irregularities in flavor, appearance, temperature of food products. Return disposal of food waste in safe and hygienic manner.
- Responsible for producing forecasted amounts utilizing Production Worksheets, using corrective recipe for consistency, and monitoring and recording temperatures for all food served.
- Uses best practices related to the safe and sanitary handling, preparation, storage, and service of foods, including proper hand washing, wearing gloves, changing gloves frequently, maintaining a clean uniform, sanitizing work surfaces and tools between uses, proper dating, labeling, and rotation of food products.
What You Need as a Cook:
- Two years of related experience.
- Ability to read, understand and follow standardized recipes, production sheets, and therapeutic and mechanically altered diets.
- Good written, oral, organizational, and basic computer skills.
- Associates degree or certificate in culinary arts issued by an accredited culinary school preferred.
- Experience preparing a wide variety of foods, including soups, sauces, and gravies preferred.
