A day in the life

Before day’s end, you’ll close hold points, file MTRs with calculations and prints, and scan job packages to meet record-retention rules—keeping everything AI-ready.

What you’ll do
- Execute floor checks required by ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 (UG-90) covering layout verification, fit-up, plate layouts, and weld inspections.
- Oversee drop materials stored in the South Inventory Lot.
- Work closely with the Quality Control Manager to confirm fabrication checkpoints are achieved.
- Coordinate with the Receiving Specialist to verify incoming materials and all supporting documentation.
- Balance priorities and time across Quality and Receiving to meet shop demands.
- Perform ASME code quality checks: nozzle and flange fit-up, shell layout, roll bay layout, and cut-part verification.
- Ensure travelers and hold points are completed on schedule.
- Witness hydrostatic tests to verify ASME compliance.
- Collaborate with the Plant Manager, QC Manager, and Purchasing Manager to resolve material discrepancies.
- File all MTRs with calculations, prints, and the traveler for Authorized Inspector (AI) preconstruction review.
- Scan job packages to satisfy ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 record-retention requirements.
- Stamp nameplates as required.
- Perform in-house NDE: PT, UT, vac-box, and soap bubble testing.
- Participate in on-floor training with the QCM; flex between departments as work shifts.
- Assist Receiving with issues related to the intake and reporting of materials.
- Set and achieve learning goals to deepen ASME Code and fabrication knowledge.

- Familiarity with material specification numbers across various materials.
