Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify insurance coverage, and manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software in Dentrix
- Assist the dental team during procedures by preparing instruments, taking X-rays, and ensuring patient comfort
- Handle all front desk duties including answering multi-line phone systems, managing patient check-in/check-out, and updating electronic health records (EHR systems)
- Verify insurance benefits, process claims, and perform medical billing using CPT and ICD coding standards to ensure accurate reimbursement
- Maintain meticulous dental records, review documentation for accuracy, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and data security
- Support administrative tasks such as filing medical records, managing office supplies, and coordinating care plans with patients
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries professionally and maintaining a positive office atmosphere
Requirements
- Proven experience in a dental office or clinic environment with familiarity in dental terminology
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in EHR systems ( Dentrix), Microsoft Office Suite, and multi-line phone systems
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, insurance verification, and Medicare guidelines
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle phone etiquette professionally; bilingual abilities are a plus
- Ability to perform clerical tasks such as filing, typing (including 10-key), and maintaining organized medical records efficiently
- Prior clinic experience with dental terminology, medical billing/coding, and health information management preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail for documentation review and accuracy in medical records management
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while providing outstanding patient service
