Airport Assistant

Mason County Airport (LDM), a small general aviation airport in Michigan, is seeking a reliable and motivated individual for the position of Part-Time Airport Assistant. This hands-on role involves a variety of operational and maintenance duties to ensure safe and efficient airport operations year-round.

Key Responsibilities:

• Airfield Inspection: Perform airfield inspections to ensure FAA standards are met related to lighting, markings, safety areas and foreign object debris control.
• Aircraft Fueling: Safely tow and fuel aircraft according to standard procedures; perform basic quality control checks and maintain fuel farm systems.
• Airfield Maintenance: Mow grass on the airfield and around facilities to maintain clear and safe operating areas.
• Snow Removal: Operate plows and other snow removal equipment to keep runways, taxiways, and aprons clear during winter weather.
• Facility Maintenance: Perform general upkeep of airport buildings and grounds, including minor repairs, cleaning, and preventive maintenance.
• Operational Support: Assist with daily airport operations, inspections, and basic administrative tasks as needed.
• Customer Service: Provide service to airport customers (pilots and passengers), answer phones, respond to email inquiries, process payment for services.

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to operate mowing equipment, snowplows, and basic tools.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Basic mechanical and maintenance skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in general aviation or airport operations.
• Familiarity with fueling procedures and safety standards.
• Mechanical, landscaping, or facility maintenance experience.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and use of online applications.

Pay: From $17.37 per hour
