High School Assistant Principal

The position of Assistant Principal at Mason High School will ensure academic excellence through strategically planned, curriculum, instruction, and assessment as well as innovative practices that focus on high achievement for all students. The ideal candidate will have both Administrative and teaching experience and will be committed to the highest personal and professional standards.
Minimum qualifications include:
Valid Ohio Administrative certification/licensure including grades 9-12
Demonstrated leadership capability
Ability to think in a visionary, global manner
Experience working in restorative environments
Experience working with online curriculum and programs
Knowledge of sound instructional practices
Three to five years of successful school Administration experience, preferably at grades 9-12
Minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching experience, preferably at grades 9-12
Master's Degree
Ability to pass a BCI and FBI criminal background check
Performance Responsibilities:
Assists in the supervision of certificated staff as directed by the Building Principal
Assists in enhancing administrative and teacher instructional leadership
Supports and champions innovative instructional practice
Leads the development, monitoring, and implementation of Objectives and Key Results that reflect the goals and priorities of the school and district
Engages staff in intensive data analysis to improve instruction and support high levels of achievement for all students
In cooperation with the Building Principal, coordinates and supervises various aspects of school operation
Experience with evaluating staff and leading staff through that process while coaching, growing, and inspiring staff
Coordinates with student groups and supervises activities of that group, including dances and other night activities
Will be required to work all HS events with other administrative staff. This includes nights, weekends, etc.
Attendance - is responsible for the attendance procedures, records, policies, and enforcement of attendance regulations
Discipline - in cooperation with the staff and the Building Principal - assists with the discipline problems referred to the office by staff
Extra-Curricular Activities - shall assist in the supervision of the extra-curricular program(s) and help to coordinate and schedule various activities
Coordination of Student Services - shall assist with the coordination of such student services as school nurse, speech and hearing, tutoring, intervention, remedial reading, library, and guidance as directed
Shall be responsible for such student services as student fees, work permits, bus loading and unloading, student parking, driver permits, and student entry and withdrawal (in conjunction with the Counseling Department).
Shall be responsible for a program providing for the issuance of interim progress reports to individual students as required by law
Assists the Building Principal and Associate Principal of Teaching and Learning in working with staff in the area of curriculum development and evaluation
Assists the Building Principal in the development of effective in-service programs for staff growth
Maintains positive relationships with students, parents, and teachers
Is highly visible throughout the school
Knows and facilitates effective instructional practices
Conveys high expectations for students, staff, and self by rewarding improved performance
Supports the needs of the teacher
Utilizes all resources of the school system and the community in developing the most effective educational program
Encourages professional growth and development by posting announcements of meetings and encouraging staff to participate in system-wide staff development opportunities
Maintains school records, schedules routine duties, classes, and activities
Communicates with all stakeholders through letters, handbooks, newsletters, verbally and through electronic communication methods (including a social media presence)
Is able to learn Mason City School district’s policies and procedures
Delegates authority and responsibility appropriately and effectively
Arranges substitute employment for all personnel as needed
Prepares and submits all necessary forms and reports as required
Assumes full responsibility for the administration of the building during the absence of the Building Principal as designated
Other duties as assigned
