POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Split Shift Before & After School Assistant supports the daily operations of the before and after school childcare program by helping provide a safe, structured, and engaging environment for students. This position assists with student supervision, activities, and program operations while working collaboratively with program staff and administration. Work Schedule is a split-shift position, typically working morning hours before school and afternoon hours after school during the academic year. Additional hours may occasionally be required for meetings, trainings, or special events.
REPORTING Reports To: Extended Care Assistant Coordinator and Extended Care Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience working with school-age children preferred.
Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, and families.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
Must successfully complete required background checks.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and engage students during before and after school program hours.
Assist with planning and implementing age-appropriate games, activities, crafts, and enrichment opportunities.
Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all students.
Support student behavior management using positive reinforcement and established program expectations.
Assist with student check-in/check-out procedures and attendance records.
Communicate appropriately with parents, staff, and administration as needed.
Help set up, organize, and clean program spaces and materials.
Monitor indoor and outdoor activities to ensure student safety.
Follow all district policies, safety procedures, and program guidelines.
Attend required meetings and training sessions.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Coordinator or Coordinator.
Terms of Employment: Evaluation: 187 Days Salary as defined by the Board
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
