Position: Specialized Classroom Aide - Behavioral Support
Location: Mason Early Childhood Center
Performance Responsibilities
1.Provides direct instruction to students with behavioral needs, under supervision of the Prevention & Wellness LED and/ or the Prevention and Wellness Counselor.
2. Implements behavior plans designed by the Prevention & Wellness LED and/ or the Prevention and Wellness Counselor. to modify behaviors that may interfere with learning.
3. Supports/ assists student(s) with behavioral needs as appropriate (one-on-one or in a small group).
4. Participate in team and planning meetings as appropriate.
5. Implements crisis plans, which may require removal of the student when behaviors are dangerous to self or others.
6. Assists student(s) with educational tasks, by providing academic, organizational, emotional and/or behavioral support while encouraging the development of independence.
7. Models appropriate social skills and facilitates social interactions when appropriate.
8. Provides assistance when needed for students with physical, behavioral, or safety needs, including lifting, positioning, transferring, prompting, escorting, and/or monitoring.
9. Models interventions/strategies for staff & provides feedback accordingly.
10. Observes, records, and charts student performance to assist with progress monitoring & data collection.
11. Participates in afterschool and/or summer training opportunities to improve skills and knowledge of students with disabilities.
12. Communicates effectively/appropriately with team members including parents.
13. Maintains confidentiality of staff, students, and families associated with the program in accordance with FERPA guidelines.
14. Possesses knowledge of or a willingness to participate in professional development related to: characteristics of disabilities, instructional methodologies, Picture Exchange Communication System, sign language, communication devices, assistive technology (low/high tech), Positive Behavior Supports, Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, and any other district required trainings.
15. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Designee or Building Administrator.
Minimum Requirements:
? Proven record of good attendance.
? Ability to work well with colleagues.
? Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to changing conditions.
? Willingness to apply for/maintain Instructional Aide Permit issued by the Ohio Department of Education.
? Ability to pass a criminal background check. Terms of Employment: Evaluation: As defined by the Board on an as needed basis. Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
