Internships & Student Teacher Placement Procedures
Mashpee Public Schools (MPS) partners with local colleges and universities to provide school-based learning experiences for interns and student teachers. These placements support aspiring educators in preparing for professional practice while allowing MPS to connect with future educators. All MPS staff and prospective interns/student teachers are required to follow the procedures below to ensure that partnerships align with district goals, comply with district policies, and provide meaningful, high-quality learning experiences.
Placement Requests & Approval Process
All internship and student teaching requests, inquiries and assignments must be coördinated by the building principal or building-based designee and vetted through the Human Resources (HR) Department.
Initial Request Requirements
Requests for placements must include the following documentation:

- College or university endorsement/approval letter
- Course syllabus,
- Signed CORI consent form,
- a copy of your driver’s license or government- issued ID
- Signed confidentiality agreement
Fingerprint-Based Background Check
Applicants must complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check in accordance with district instructions, which allows results to be sent electronically to the HR Department.
Placement Agreement
Once the placement is approved by the building principal or building-based designee, both the student and the supervising practitioner must sign the Internship/Student Teaching Placement Agreement.
