What are the responsibilities and job description for the Firefighter position at Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation?
Under the supervision of the Captain, the incumbent carries out all firefighting, emergency medical, hazardous material, rescue & inspection duties which arise. High school diploma or GED and one year firefighting experience required. Aptitude for mechanical work a plus. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be in good physical and mental condition. Current Candidate Physical Agility Test(CPAT) with an issue date of no more than two years prior to the application closing date required or must pass the Mashantucket Physical Agility Test (MPAT) within first year of hire. Pro Board, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress or CT. Certified Fire Fighter II Certification, National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or State Equivalent EMT required. National Fire Protection Asso (NFPA) 472/1072 Hazardous Materials Technician or State Equivalent Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Hazardous Materials Technician Preferred and/or Hazardous Materials Awareness/ Operations. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. CT Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or 2Q (CT Fire Apparatus) is a plus. 2Q license will be obtained within the first year of hire, or trained to that standard. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration.
