What are the responsibilities and job description for the CONCRETE BLOCK MACHINE OPERATOR position at Maschmeyer Concrete?
Maschmeyer Concrete Co. is seeking a highly-motivated Team Member for their Block Production Facility in Vero Beach, FL. Experience with Block Manufacturing equipment and machinery is preferred. Mechanical knowledge is required. Must be able to work six days a week, any shift in a 24-hour production facility.
Philosophy:
- The Block Machine Operator is primarily responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the block machine and related equipment. They are also responsible for producing quality product, maximizing production rates, and maintaining equipment.
Safety:
- Personal Protective Equipment. The Block Machine Operator always wears the appropriate safety equipment, including hardhat, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
- Machine Guards and Protective Shields. The Block Machine Operator thoroughly performs required daily equipment inspections to prevent mechanical problems that could result in a safety incident. Additionally, he ensures that all machine guards and shields are in place and functional at all times when the machine is running.
- Safety of Other Team Members. The Machine Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe behavior of others who are near this block machine and has both the responsibility and authority to stop, or correct, unsafe behavior by others.
Quality:
- Product Quality. The Block Machine Operator must be able to identify defective product and must possess the troubleshooting skills necessary to correct problems with machine output.
- Communication. The Block Machine Operator must communicate effectively, and collaborate with, all other team members to maximize the quality of manufactured product and to minimize the incidence of culls.
Efficiency:
- Machine Operations. The Block Machine Operator must oversee the safe and efficient operation of all equipment on the factory floor.
- Daily Cleaning and Maintenance. The Block Machine Operator is responsible for the effective and thorough daily cleaning of the Block Machine, hoppers and mold at the end of each shift. Additionally, daily preventive maintenance must be performed in the form of greasing and belt/chain adjustment.
- Tool Control. The Block Machine Operator is responsible for keeping track of all tools associated with operating the block machine and for returning those to the tool chest/room after use.
Appearance:
- Personal. The Block Machine Operator is always dressed in accordance with company policy, and is in good mental and physical condition. Additionally, he always wears appropriate PPE for the task being performed.
- Facility. The Block Machine Operator not only keeps the area immediately surrounding the block machine clean and orderly, but also assists with the general cleaning and maintenance of the block plant and yard areas as requested by the Block Plant Manager.
