Description
A Therapeutic Behavioral Services Specialist (TBSS) provides short term, intensive, behavioral interventions to severely disordered and impaired youth that are leaving or are at risk of being moved to a more restrictive level of care. The TBS Specialist works within the context of a client’s overall mental health treatment plan to help the client and their caregiver(s) address specific problematic behaviors. The position involves working designated shifts under the direct supervision of the TBS Supervisor.
DUTIES:
1. STRENGTH BASED: Is capable of accurately identifying and building on the strengths of
clients to better reach their potential.
2. SERVICES: Provides Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) for assigned clients and their
caregivers in accordance with the policies of the program and referring/regulatory
agencies (DMH, DCFS and probation).
3. BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTIONS: Demonstrates the ability to provide specific behavioral
interventions such as: role-modeling, immediate behavioral reinforcement, time-
structuring activities, appropriate time-out strategies, cognitive behavioral approaches
and positive support.
4. CRISIS: Provides direct interventions to clients in crisis and therapeutic behavioral
guidance.
5. MODIFICATION OF SERVICES: Assists in development or modification of services to deal
with individual clients or family units.
6. OBJECTIVES: In conjunction with the TBS Supervisor, develops measurable objectives for
clients/families and monitors progress toward those goals.
7. CONSULTATION: Regularly consults with minor’s caregiver, therapist, case manager,
CSW, school staff and other members of the treatment team concerning client and
program issues.
8. PRODUCTIVITY: Meets all productivity requirements and completes all necessary
documentation required of the position set forth by the agency Tier System and internal
policies.
9. MEETINGS: Attends all supervision, staff meetings, in-service training and conferences
as required and scheduled. Initiates 30 day Service Plan Reviews with the treatment
team.
10. PROFESSIONALISM: Maintains professionalism in appearance and service delivery in
accordance with the agency practice and general standards of ethics.
11. CONFIDENTIALITY: Maintains strict confidentiality over all records and information
relative to minors.
12. BOUNDARIES: Establishes positive and respectful relationships with client’s caregivers
within professional boundaries and in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
13. TRAVEL: Travels independently to various environments (buildings with stairs, various
communities, schools, etc.) to provide services as needed.
14. OTHER: Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Signing Bonus: Receive the first half of $500 on the first paycheck and the second half after completion of 6 months of employment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and (1) year full-time related experience, A.A. and (3) years related experience.

Valid California Driver’s License, good driving record, and must be able to drive to fulfill the duties of the position.
Salary : $27 - $33
