We are looking for an experienced and motivated Water Resources Director with a strong background in surface water management. The selected individual will oversee and guide project teams to successfully deliver high-quality results that meet or exceed client expectations. The ideal candidate will bring proven leadership, technical expertise, and strong interpersonal skills to the role. Responsibilities include active involvement in business development, client relations, and project planning.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to lead a wide range of surface water projects, including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, flood hazard analysis and mitigation, FEMA studies, Area Drainage Master Studies and Plans (ADMS/P), sediment yield assessments, river mechanics, transportation drainage, and stream stabilization design. Proficiency in FLO-2D software is required. The Director will also mentor team members, review technical analyses and engineering designs, prepare technical reports and design exhibits, and oversee the development of construction documents. Additional duties include performing quality assurance reviews for 1D and 2D modeling, floodplain mapping, watershed planning, hydraulic structure design, closed conduit systems, and open-channel hydraulics.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and deliver exceptional client service.
- Lead marketing and business development initiatives with a successful track record in securing new projects.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals, and negotiate contracts.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and staff resources.
- Supervise, coach, and support the professional growth of engineering staff.
- Apply sound technical judgment and ensure high-quality project execution throughout all phases.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Arizona.
- Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) credential, or the ability to obtain certification within six months of hire.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and client management skills.

Salary : $150,000 - $160,000
