Assistant Professor of Environmental Science (Professor of Practice or Tenure Track - #1619)

Marywood University's Department of Science Math and Computer Science invites applications for a full-time core faculty member. This is a 9-month position.

Applicants for this faculty position may choose to apply for a tenure track position, which carries responsibility for maintaining a research program in a relevant area of Environmental Science, or for an appointment as a professor of practice, which involves higher teaching responsibilities but fewer responsibilities for research. Teaching:

Tenure Track faculty members carry a 4/3 course load. Professor of Practice faculty members carry a 4/4 course load. All applicants should demonstrate high quality undergraduate teaching in the field of environmental science and introductory biology. Preferences will be applied to applicants with teaching experience in upper-level environmental science courses like ecology, climate change, and resource conservation. Faculty are expected to develop syllabi and teaching materials for environmental science courses taught to majors and non-majors. Ability to teach environmental science labs should also be demonstrated.

Service:

All faculty are required to engage in service to the university and department. This includes but is not limited to advise and mentorship of undergraduate science students, help with student recruitment and retention, participate in department meetings, participate on department committees, and participate on university standing committees.

Scholarship/Research:

Tenure-track faculty are also expected to engage in scholarly activities, which may include presentations at academic and professional conferences, submissions to peer-reviewed journals, and/or grant submissions.

Required Qualifications:

For the Tenure Track Position:

• Required: The successful candidate will have earned a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Environmental Science or related discipline.

For the Professor of Practice Position

• Required: The successful candidate will have earned a master’s degree in Environmental Science or related discipline.
