GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Assistant Director of Career Services supports the Director in providing comprehensive career development, employer engagement, and experiential learning opportunities to Marywood University students and alumni. This position plays a key role in advancing the university’s mission and strategic plan by fostering student career readiness, enhancing employer partnerships, and contributing to institutional outcomes related to student success. As an integral member of the Division of Academic Affairs, the Assistant Director collaborates with faculty, staff, and external partners to prepare students for meaningful careers and lifelong professional growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist the Director in overseeing daily operations of the Career Services Office, including supervision of graduate assistants and/or work study students.
  • Provide individual and group career advising to undergraduate and graduate students, and alumni in areas such as career exploration, job and internship search strategies, résumé and cover letter development, interview preparation, and graduate school planning.
  • Develop and deliver workshops, classroom presentations, digital and print resources, and outreach programs on career readiness, professional branding, and experiential learning.
  • Assist in the coordination of employer engagement initiatives, including internship recruitment, job fairs, on-campus interviews, and networking events.
  • Support the management, promotion, and utilization of the university’s career management system (CSM) and other career development tools such as Focus2 Career.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and assessment of the Marywood Career Readiness Program, aligning with NACE competencies and institutional learning outcomes.
  • Assist in cultivating relationships with regional and national employers to expand experiential learning and employment opportunity pipelines.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to integrate career development into the curriculum and promote faculty partnerships.
  • Support data collection, analysis, and reporting on student engagement, employment outcomes, and internship participation, especially through the First Destination Survey.
  • Represent the Career Services Office at on campus events, including New Student Orientation, Pacer Priorities Day, Open Houses, and Admitted Students Day.
  • Maintain accurate student and employer records in accordance with university policy and professional standards.
  • Assist with other projects, events, administrative duties, and university initiatives as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Psychology, Business, Human Resources, Sociology, Higher Education Administration, or other related fields.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in workforce development, program management, career services, employer relations, student affairs, or other related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise and support a diverse student population.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional, student-centered environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters’ degree in Psychology, Business, Human Resources, Sociology, Higher Education Administration, or other related fields.
  • Experience supervising staff or graduate assistants.
  • Knowledge of NACE competencies and current trends in workforce development, experiential learning, and AI-driven career tools.
  • Data analysis and assessment experience to measure learning outcomes and program effectiveness.

JOB SCHEDULE:

  • Full-time, 12-month staff position.
  • Some evening and weekend work required to support programming and events.
