REPORTS TO:
Director of Transportation

 

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:
Regular, full-time (260 days)   

 

FLSA STATUS:
Non-Exempt

 

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide clerical and office management support to transportation department.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage driver routes including changes, updates and creation of routes.   Includes inputting the information into the Routing system, as well as, communicating changes in routes to the drivers.   

  • Assist with the scheduling, coordination and planning of annual in-service for employees in department.  

  • Follow procedures for employee and student accident reporting including notification to proper authorities and administration.

  • Pull and review bus videos as needed.

  • Create spreadsheets for department use, generate purchase orders, and other clerical duties such as filing, creating new hire files, maintaining certifications, updating records and etc.

  • Answer calls and inquiries from the buildings, parents, community members concerning transportation issues.    Assist drivers with questions and support as needed.

  • Communicate with building personnel and other schools as needed.   

  • Assist in the preparation of reports or information needed for compliance purposes or operation of Transportation.

  • Assist On Board Instructor (OBI) with, completion of paperwork, scheduling classes and entering information into the ODE system.

  • Operate transportation and garage programs and systems.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of information that is not public domain.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain an appropriate personal appearance.

  • Observe all safety and health regulations of the school district.

  • Maintain a neat, attractive office environment.

  • Practice ethical and responsible behavior.

  • Participate in professional development activities as assigned.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director or Director of Operations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma.

  • Post High School education, preferred.

  • Experience with transportation routing software a plus.

  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office Suite experience.

  • Alternative to the above qualification as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Competence with the computers and software used by the school district, and willingness to continuously upgrade those skills.

  • Well developed oral communication skills.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and efficiently manage multiple tasks.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with other staff members, and to interact with staff, students and the public in a positive manner.

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

  • Computer/printer

  • Various office machines, such as copiers, fax machine, etc.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Potential exposure to blood or other bodily fluids and tissue.

  • Potential contact with distraught or angry people.

  • Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather.

  • Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, and read.

  • Occasional requirement to lift, carry, push, pull supplies or equipment, up to 25 lbs.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Length of Employment:  One Year Limited Contract

  • Salary:  Based on current classified salary schedule with appropriate experience and training

  • Fringe Benefits:  Based on current classified handbook
