Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred; may substitute relevant experience. Must be highly organized, detail-oriented with effective time-management skills; have proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships, consistently meet deadlines, demonstrate independent judgment and initiative, use basic spreadsheets for data management; and be willing to provide support at a time, location, and in a manner that meets the needs of persons served. Should have working knowledge of federal benefits such as Social Security and Medical Assistance. Requires effective written and oral communication; premium for Spanish/English fluency. Daily access to a reliable automobile and a valid driver’s license is mandatory and must be able to maintain a good driving record and automobile insurance throughout employment.

Function

  • Assist clients with the DDA Waiver Enrollment Process and remaining active in the program.
  • Assist clients with Medical Assistance (MA) Re-Determinations.
  • Maximize enrollment in DDA Waivers to secure federal reimbursement for the State.
  • Is part of agency team working toward fulfillment of agency philosophy, mission, strategy and annual goals and objectives and acts accordingly at all times.

Position Description

Community Education

  • Assist with and participate in relevant training for Resource Connections staff, people served by the agency, and service providers.
  • Complete mandated training per DDA regulations, and demonstrate ongoing commitment to developing and enhancing professional skills and ability by participation in agency/staff meetings and outside training opportunities.

DDA Waiver Enrollment And MA Re-Determination

  • The Waiver Specialist is responsible for coordinating the enrollment process for all persons served by our agency who are receiving services through one of the DDA waivers.
  • Provide the information and supports necessary for clients and their families to complete the enrollment process within the given timeframes.
  • Complete the eligibility screening process, provide specific information to clients and families regarding DDA’s Waivers, coordinate the enrollment meeting, complete the post-meeting paperwork, assist with the completion of the Medical Assistance Application, and gather documentation to support the information listed on the client's Medical Assistance Application.
  • Assist those clients who are enrolled in a DDA Waiver to maintain their enrollment. This may include assisting some clients with a Medical Assistance Re-Determination each year.
  • Work collaboratively with the Eligibility Determination Division (EDD), the State Review Team (SRT),and DDA to resolve any issues that arise with regard to an client's eligibility for Medical Assistance or disability status.
  • Assist with Added Service enrollments.Assist with updating DDA regarding the status of each client enrolled in a DDA Waivers.

  • Perform other duties as requested from time to time that are not specifically listed but are consistent with the position and skills of the incumbent and necessary for the efficient and effective operation of the agency.
