Drink at The Well, INC. is seeking a dependable, kind, respectful, and self-motivated Facilities Maintenance Technician to oversee maintenance and janitorial needs across our Baltimore City properties.

We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that equips women who have survived trauma. The ideal candidate will help us maintain safe, clean, and welcoming environments while demonstrating professionalism, compassion, and healthy boundaries.

Schedule

  • 32 hours per week with a flexible schedule. Daytime weekday hours.
  • Occasional availability for snow, severe weather, facility emergencies, inspections, and special events

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in facilities maintenance, property management, construction, or a skilled trade
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, minor construction, and general building systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and complete minor repairs independently
  • Ability to recognize when a licensed contractor is needed
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills
  • Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work with limited supervision
  • Reliable transportation; pickup truck preferred but not required

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee the general condition, safety, cleanliness, and maintenance of all properties.
  • Conduct routine building inspections and follow a preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and facility emergencies.
  • Complete minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, construction, and general building repairs.
  • Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, HVAC filters, and other routine maintenance items.
  • Monitor alarms, thermostats, utilities, emergency lights, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and other building systems.
  • Identify and report leaks, water damage, mold, pests, drainage issues, and other safety concerns.
  • Maintain exterior areas, including trash removal, lawn care, trimming, weeding, watering, leaf removal, and annual power washing.
  • Coordinate snow and ice removal at designated properties.
  • Move furniture, equipment, pallets, supplies, and Hope Chest donations as needed.
  • Maintain the dumpster, parking lot, elevator, keys, maintenance closets, and janitorial supplies.
  • Coordinate required inspections, Fire Marshal visits, elevator service, pest control, and other vendor appointments.
  • Contact contractors, obtain quotes, monitor vendor work, and assist with repair and project cost tracking.
  • Complete monthly residential-unit inspections with the assigned social worker.
  • Clean designated areas of the main building and empty trash daily.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown for programs and special events.
  • Maintain records of inspections, repairs, maintenance requests, service dates, and expenses.
  • Provide regular updates to the COO regarding repair needs, safety concerns, and anticipated expenses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and use ladders
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to access basements, utility rooms, storage spaces, and other building areas
