Job Description: Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Utility Operator - MD 2-5 Grade Stationary Engineer at our Patuxent facility in Jessup, MD. The Steam Plant, Utility Operator assists the licensed Maryland Grade 1 Stationary Engineer with the daily boiler operations, performs preventive routine equipment maintenance, lubrication, cleaning and other work-related duties as assigned. Persons appointed to this position will be expected to train using the facilities Boiler Operator training curriculum and qualify for a Maryland Department of Labor Licensing (DLLR) State Board of Stationary Engineers, Grade 1-4 Stationary Engineer’s License within one year of completing the required experience as an active MD Grade 2-5 Stationary Engineer. Current License - Upgrade shall be completed within the allotted time frame based on the DLLR experience requirements 1 year Grade 5 to Grade 4 within 1.5 Years Grade 4 to Grade 3 within 3 Years Grade 3 to Grade 2 within 4 years Grade 2 to Grade 1 within 6 years DLLR licensing requirement can be found here: https://www.dllr.state.md.us/license/stateng/statengreq.shtml Estimated Pay Range: $48,301.85 - $66,414.31 Benefits: Health Insurance with choice of medical plan and prescription, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance options, along with flexible spending accounts 401K retirement savings program with generous agency match Paid vacation, personal and sick leave Ten paid holidays per year Tuition assistance Minimum Requirements: Graduation from high school or GED, plus 1 year of experience in an industrial, construction, or manufacturing environment. Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points and must have a Maryland Department of Labor Licensing State (DLLR) Board of Stationary Engineers, Grade 2 to 5, Stationary Engineer’s License.
