Job Description: Maryland Environmental Service (MES) has an opening for a Field Operations Supervisor within our Environmental Dredging and Restoration Group located at the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island in the Chesapeake Bay near Tilghman, Maryland. MES operates this site on behalf of the Maryland Port Administration.This position reports to this site daily and provides management of field activity, supervision of operational staff, administrative functions, and equipment operation. It is expected this position will work overtime, nights, and weekends when needed. This position requires work indoors and in outdoor weather conditions and during adverse weather conditions when needed. This position will require travel by boat to the site. Estimated Pay Range: $60,782.49 to $83,575.93 Benefits: Health Insurance with choice of medical plan and prescription, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance options, along with flexible spending accounts 401K retirement savings program with generous agency match Paid vacation, personal and sick leave Ten paid holidays per year Tuition assistance Minimum Requirements: Graduation from a standard high school or GED plus one year of supervisory experience in field operations, recycling/solid waste or construction activities and six years prior experience operating heavy equipment. OR Graduation from a standard high school or GED plus six years of progressively responsible experience applicable to the hiring facility. This experience must include a lead role in field operations, recycling/solid waste, or construction activities. Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate is familiar with some or up to all of the following: operation of dozers, excavators, and dump trucks, reading and interpreting construction plans, wastewater treatment practices, and/or Microsoft Suite applications. Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License is a plus. Note: Persons appointed to this position will be required to attend supervisory training within 6 months of appointment, or the earliest available training if training is not offered within 6 months. Complete OSHA 10 hr. General Industry Training Class. Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points. This position will be open until filled.
