Residential Field Services ManagerMaryland Energy Advisors (MDEA) is a rapidly growing energy management firm delivering energy efficiency and sustainability programs for utilities and communities across the region. As part of our continued expansion, we are seeking an experienced Field Services Manager to lead and support residential energy efficiency and home weatherization programs throughout New Jersey.In this role, you will oversee day-to-day field operations, including home energy audits, direct-install measures, and quality assurance activities. You will manage and support field staff, coordinate scheduling, workload distribution, and ensure all field activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with utility program requirements and quality standards. This role works closely with other subcontractors, operations teams, and utility partners to maintain high performance, consistent customer experience, and continuous improvement across field services.The ideal candidate is a strong people manager with hands-on field experience, excellent organizational and communication skills, and a deep understanding of residential energy efficiency or weatherization programs. If you thrive in a fast-paced, field-oriented environment, enjoy coaching teams, solving operational challenges, and delivering measurable impact for households and communities, this is an exciting opportunity to grow with a mission-driven organization supporting New Jersey customers.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESOversee the day-to-day field operations of residential utility energy efficiency and home weatherization programs, ensuring high-quality service delivery, regulatory compliance, and a positive customer experience.Manage, coach, and support field staff and subcontractors conducting home energy audits, direct-install measures, and related field activities.Plan, coordinate, and assign field workloads, routes, and schedules to ensure efficient coverage of assigned service territories and achievement of program goals.Ensure field teams follow utility program guidelines, safety protocols, quality standards, and customer service expectations.Serve as the primary escalation point for field-related issues, including customer concerns, contractor performance, safety incidents, and operational challenges.Oversee lead generation and community-based outreach strategies, ensuring field teams represent the program professionally and in alignment with utility requirements.Review and approve energy assessment documentation, reports, and data submissions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely entry into program tracking systems.Coordinate the installation of eligible direct-install energy-saving measures, monitoring inventory usage, adherence to procedures, and quality outcomes.Collaborate with program managers, operations staff, and utility partners to track performance metrics, identify trends, and implement corrective actions or process improvements.Support onboarding, training, and ongoing performance management of field staff and subcontractors, including ride-alongs, coaching, and feedback.Identify opportunities to improve field efficiency, customer experience, safety, and QA/QC processes, contributing to continuous program improvement.Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful execution and growth of field services operations.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Energy, Environmental Studies, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in residential energy efficiency, home weatherization, field operations, or utility program implementation.BPI Building Analyst certification (required).Demonstrated experience managing field staff and/or subcontractors, including scheduling, performance management, coaching, and issue resolution.Strong working knowledge of residential energy audits, building science principles, weatherization practices, and direct-install energy efficiency measures.Proven ability to oversee field operations while ensuring compliance with utility program requirements, safety protocols, and QA/QC standards.Experience planning and coordinating field logistics, including workload planning, route optimization, inventory oversight, and resource allocation.Ability to serve as the primary escalation point for customer concerns, safety incidents, and operational challenges.Experience reviewing and approving audit documentation, field reports, and data submissions for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to track performance metrics and implement corrective actions.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with field teams, program managers, subcontractors, and utility or client stakeholders.Ability to travel within the service territory and conduct ride-alongs, site visits, and on-site coaching as needed.Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening, as required by utility and program partners. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Professional certifications such as CEM, PMP, or other relevant industry credentials.Experience managing field operations for New Jersey Clean Energy or other utility-sponsored residential programs.Prior experience overseeing direct-install inventory, warehousing, or materials logistics.Experience leading community-based outreach or door-to-door engagement teams.Familiarity with QA/QC frameworks, inspection protocols, and corrective action planning.Experience scaling or standing up new field services teams or program launches. WORK ENVIRONMENTThis position is primarily field-oriented, with significant time spent overseeing field operations, conducting ride-alongs, site visits, and supporting audits and direct-install activities across residential properties.Regular travel throughout assigned service territories to observe field work, coach staff, address operational issues, and ensure compliance with program requirements.The role requires frequent interaction with homeowners, field staff, subcontractors, and program partners, with a strong emphasis on professionalism, safety, and customer experience.Administrative, planning, and reporting tasks are completed remotely or in an office setting using mobile and cloud-based program systems and dashboards.Work schedules may include occasional evenings or weekends to support field coverage, staff training, community outreach events, or to respond to operational needs.BENEFITSMD Energy Advisors offers competitive salaries and benefits.
