The Facilities Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and hygiene of MCVET’s facilities, including educational, and administrative areas. This position plays a vital role in ensuring a respectful and dignified environment for veterans as they transition through MCVET’s housing, education, and treatment programs. In addition to routine custodial responsibilities, the role includes managing the inventory and distribution of cleaning and janitorial supplies.
Key Responsibilities:
Custodial Duties:
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing of restrooms, offices, dining areas, hallways, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors and carpets.
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces and restock paper products, soap, and sanitizing supplies.
- Collect and properly dispose of trash and recyclables throughout the facility.
- Deep-clean assigned areas periodically, including stripping/waxing floors and shampooing carpets.
- Clean interior glass, walls, baseboards, and other surfaces as needed.
Supply and Inventory Management:
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of cleaning supplies, paper goods, and related items.
- Receive deliveries, inspect orders for accuracy, and organize supply storage areas.
- Distribute cleaning supplies to designated areas and staff as needed.
- Track usage, report shortages, and assist with reordering supplies in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) guidelines when handling and storing chemicals.
Additional Duties:
- Report any maintenance or safety issues (e.g., leaks, damaged equipment, broken fixtures) to the Operations team.
- Provide respectful, discreet support while working around veteran residents and staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the designated supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum 1–2 years of custodial experience, preferably in a residential, educational, or healthcare facility.
- Familiarity with safe use and storage of cleaning agents and chemicals.
- Experience managing cleaning supply inventory is preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently with minimal supervision.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
