Registered Nurse (RN) - Part Time/PRN

Maryland Cardiology Associates is looking for a part time/PRN Registered Nurse (RN) for our Cath Lab.

Candidate must have experience in a cath/vascular lab and recovery area.

We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our practice and cath lab on a part-time basis. The RN will provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing various peripheral procedures.

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical assessment skills, experience in nursing and/or critical care, and the ability to work collaboratively with doctors, technicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform pre-procedure nursing assessments, including medical history, medication reconciliation, allergies, vital signs, and review of relevant laboratory results.
• Prepare patients for peripheral angiograms, angioplasty, atherectomy, stent placement, and other peripheral vascular interventions.
• Establish and maintain IV access and administer medications, fluids, and contrast agents as ordered.
• Monitor patients' cardiac rhythm, vital signs, oxygen saturation, level of consciousness, and overall clinical status during procedures.
• Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, including bleeding, hemodynamic instability, allergic reactions, and other procedural complications.
• Provide post-procedure care, including vascular access-site assessment, bleeding precautions, distal pulse and neurovascular assessments, and monitoring for complications.
• Educate patients and families regarding procedure preparation, recovery instructions, medications, and follow-up care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Ensure compliance with facility policies, medication safety standards, radiation safety practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with physicians, radiologic technologists, medical assistants, and other clinical team members to promote safe and efficient patient care.
• Maintain readiness of the procedure and recovery areas, including supplies, equipment, and emergency resources.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, as required by facility policy and job duties.
• Previous experience in a cath lab, interventional radiology, vascular surgery, or another procedural nursing environment preferred.
• Knowledge of peripheral vascular anatomy, vascular access-site management, anticoagulation, and post-intervention monitoring preferred.
• Strong communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and patient-care skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience assisting with peripheral angiography and endovascular interventions.
• Familiarity with moderate sedation monitoring and recovery, within applicable scope of practice and facility protocols.
• Experience with femoral, radial, or other vascular access-site monitoring.
• Cath lab or procedural nursing experience.

A valid and current Maryland RN license is required.
