Position Overview
The Surgical Technician plays an essential role in supporting the surgical team before, during, and after procedures. This position is responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile environment, organizing surgical instruments and supplies, and providing hands-on support to surgeons and other members of the perioperative team.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, safety-focused, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for scheduled procedures.
- Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
- Assist the surgical team by providing instruments, supplies, and equipment as needed.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team during procedures.
- Assist with surgical setup, room turnover, and post-procedure breakdown.
- Ensure surgical trays and equipment are properly handled, cleaned, and prepared for subsequent cases.
- Follow established infection-control and patient-safety practices.
- Maintain an organized and efficient operating-room environment.
- Monitor surgical supplies and communicate inventory needs to appropriate personnel.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other clinical staff.
- Support efficient patient flow and timely room turnover.
- Promptly report equipment, supply, safety, or environmental concerns.
✅ Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent applicable training.
- Current Surgical Technician certification/credential, as required by the facility or applicable regulations.
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile techniques.
- Understanding of infection-control and patient-safety practices.
- Ability to remain focused and organized in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to respond appropriately to changing surgical needs.

- Previous experience working in an ambulatory surgery center or operating-room environment.
- Experience supporting multiple surgical specialties.
