What are the responsibilities and job description for the Primary Therapist position at Maryland Addiction Recovery Center?
A day in the life of a Primary Therapist –
- Play an integral part in a patient’s treatment experience by providing support to them and their families
- Support patients throughout their treatment process
- Maintain a caseload of approximately 10 patients (Community Living Treatment, PHP, and IOP levels of care)
- Participate in MARC’s Family Recovery Program (FRP), to include co-leading bi-weekly family education support groups on a rotation with other clinical team members and occasionally participate in the intensive therapeutic family weekends which are held every 6-8 weeks
- Run both process and structured therapeutic groups
What opportunities do you have?
- Work collaboratively to both seek guidance on cases and provide guidance to other team members
- Be an active member of an interdisciplinary team
Additional Job duties include:
- Conduct urinalysis drug tests with patients
- Documentation and communication of patient progress (progress notes, email, verbal conversations) with internal staff
- Documentation and communication of patient progress with referral source and outpatient provider(s)
- Participate in clinical on-call rotation
- Run evening groups as assigned
- The MARC clinical philosophy centers around challenging patients’ pathologies through clinical inventions to give patients sustainable corrective treatment experience, extensive ongoing family work and collaboration with outside referents and providers

LCSW-C, LMSW, LCPC, LGPC, CSC-AD, or CAC-AD required.
