We are searching for a full-time Therapeutic Recreation Director who will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing medically approved recreation program for residents in the skilled nursing unit.
Schedule: 37.50 hours per week including every other weekend. Ability to be flexible with the schedule to accommodate the needs of the departments and residents
Hourly Rate Range: $22.00 to $24.00
Our resident population is primarily seniors with varying levels of acuity.

Job Responsibilities included below but not limited to:
- Directs and organizes such therapeutic activities such as creative arts therapy including music, art, dance or drama therapy, games, and social individual activities to assist residents to develop interpersonal relationships in accordance with residents’ capabilities, needs and interests.
- Plans daily living group activities, to help develop new skills and/or experience therapeutically new or revived emotions.
- Organizes and coordinates special outings and accompanies residents on outings such as ball games, sightseeing, or picnics to make residents aware of available recreational resources.
- Trains groups of volunteers and students in techniques of recreation therapy and creative arts therapy.
- Serves as consultant to employers, educational institutions, and community health programs.
- Provides attractively decorated bulletin boards and materials for residents, staff and visitors identifying activities available.
- Ensures newly admitted residents and families are comfortable and well informed.
- Meal preparation, transport and assist nursing staff during meals as scheduled.
- Completes applicable documentation
Job Qualifications:
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of the senior retirement community or healthcare setting is required
- Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and make sound decisions
- Sensitivity to the needs of the elderly in a healthcare setting.
- Typing skills and computer knowledge.
- Prior MS Office experience, including Word and Excel.
- Demonstrates cooperation and teamwork with peers and other departments.
- Engages in positive customer service interaction with residents, families and visitors.
- Takes ownership of an error in delivery of service and works to correct the problem.
- Displays good attendance and is punctual.
- Ability to have positive communication, work ethics and teamwork with employees.
