Position Summary
The Case Aide will provide administrative and case management support to the USCRI grant Family Support Workers who conduct Home Studies and Post Release Services. Must reside in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia and must have the ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish as used by participants.
Reportability
This position will report directly to the Regional Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Conduct routine calls to clients to assist with coordination of services and assess for safety.
- Conduct outreach with local community agencies to identify appropriate community resources for clients, ensuring they are culturally and linguistically appropriate.
- Assist in completing applications and referral forms.
- Accompany clients (or provide telephonic support) to facilitate school enrollment and access to community resources, as needed.
- Provide ongoing administrative support to PRS workers.
- Maintain a high standard of record-keeping according to USCRI and ORR policies and procedures.
- Transfer data from various sources into designated systems or databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Provide information, education, referrals, outreach, advocacy, and support to ensure that each child receives the services they require.
- Assess the safety and appropriateness of the placement on an ongoing basis using child welfare principles and social work best practices through phone/video calls, interviews, and home visits.
- Build a network of local pro bono legal resources and service providers to facilitate access for UC and sponsors and track individual progress.
- Coordinate and maintain communication with key stakeholders.
- Participate in regular training and communication sessions with supervisor and headquarters staff.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities –
- An associate degree or bachelor’s degree in social work, International Studies, or Humanitarian related field preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year experience working with, serving, and advocating on behalf of immigrant and refugee children preferred.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, ability to prioritize duties in a fast-paced environment, ability to work independently; ability to think analytically and apply sound judgement; ability to use sound judgement to detect unusual, harmful, or emergency situations and act accordingly.
- Knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Dedication to the human rights of refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers and displaced people.
- Ability to think creatively to identify resources in unfamiliar communities.
- Must pass a criminal background check that includes history of conviction of child and sexual abuse and demonstrate a commitment to comply with mandatory state reporting requirements for child abuse and neglect.
- Possess or be able to obtain CPR and basic first aid certification.
Training Requirements –
- Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training.
- Satisfactory completion of ORR required training prior to serving clients and on an annual basis.
- Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.
Language Requirement – Must have the ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish as used by participants.
Physical Demands – Regularly required to sit; frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Work Environment – Mostly in a home office setting with quiet to moderate noise level. May be exposed to extreme cold, heat, and humidity due to outside weather conditions. Opportunity to work a hybrid schedule – remotely & onsite, as needed.
