Job Summary -
Assistants are responsible for the collection and coordination of patient samples for laboratory testing. Samples include, but are not limited to: venous blood, capillary blood, urine, throat swabs, nasopharyngeal swabs and specimens collected by non-lab personnel. Assistants will also be responsible for performing non-technical, simple laboratory tasks in all sections, such as operating and maintaining the records of basic instruments, centrifuges and dishwashers. Assistants duties also include, but are not limited to: clerical duties such as patient registration, patient test ordering, result correlation, distribution, filing and the collection of drug screens and breath alcohol testing. Back up for Lab Courier Service.
Regulatory Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent knowledge from experience.
- Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not required. Lab assistants are encouraged to obtain a phlebotomy certification.
- Prior lab experience preferred.
- A valid Ohio Drivers License with a good driving record is required, if applicable.
Language Skills
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Skills
- Must complete simple laboratory tasks in all sections.
