What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Counselor - Must be Local (2359) position at Mary Rutan Health?
Job Summary -
Assist with Medicaid, HCAP, and hospital Financial Assistance application procedures, educating patients about their financial liabilities, and developing patient payment arrangements for said liabilities. The Financial Counselor reports to the Supervisor of Patient Clearance. Conducts pre-registration of patients and other related financial clearance functions as required.
Regulatory Requirements
- High School graduate or GED.
- MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Two (2) years of previous related healthcare Revenue Cycle experience.
- ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: At least three (3) years of previous related healthcare Revenue Cycle experience, preferably with a focus in Financial Counseling. An Associate’s degree from a recognized college or university preferred.

- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.

- Clear understanding of the impact financial counseling has on Revenue Cycle operations and financial performance.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills

- A demonstrated ability to use PC based office productivity tools (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel) as necessary; general computer skills necessary to work effectively in an office environment.
