Position Title: Preschool Teacher (Ages 2–5)

Founded in 1934, Mary Lee Johnston Community Learning Center (MLJCLC) is a long-standing, nonprofit early learning center dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable childcare and education to children and families in our community. We believe in growing together while supporting every child’s development through nurturing relationships, purposeful play, and a strong partnership with families.
Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic, energetic, and compassionate Preschool Teacher to join our dedicated team! The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, loves working with children, and understands the importance of play-based learning in helping young minds grow. This position serves children ages 2–5 years, creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and implement age-appropriate daily activities aligned with the HighScope Curriculum.
- Create a warm, inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning through play and exploration.
- Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through intentional teaching and observation.
- Maintain open, positive communication with families, encouraging partnership in each child’s learning journey.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized classroom that meets state licensing and accreditation standards.
- Collaborate with teaching team members and administration to ensure consistency and quality in programming.
- Observe and document developmental milestones and communicate progress to families.
- Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and center events.
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field preferred.
- CDA (Child Development Associate Credential) or willingness to obtain.
- Experience working with children ages 2–5 in a licensed early childhood setting.
- Understanding of child development principles and play-based learning approaches.
- Positive, energetic, and team-oriented attitude.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time position, Monday–Friday

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
