Job Summary:

Under direct supervision, serves as maintenance support resource for packaging production operations. Contributes to ensuring safe working practices are followed and contributes ideas to simplify and standardize the workplace. Shares ownership in achieving world class performance and continuous improvement of production. Supports Sr. Engineering Technician in performing trials and tests for new products and/or packages for Site Operations or in support of the designated Cells area within the Manufacturing facility. Responsible for assisting in the preparation, equipment set up, and execution of line trials. Accountable to develop expertise in packaging equipment to support world-class, low cost/high quality producer of choice.

About the Role:

Responsibilities:

             Responsible for Material Productivity, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), MTBF (Mean Time between Failure), by the utilization of the data provided through MKBS. Support process improvement projects and meeting all defined production/quality standards, Company KPI’s (Key Performance Indicator’s) to include, but are not limited to safety, quality, cost and service.

             Support the documentation of successful equipment settings and tests results to be used by Site Engineering and Operations staff in establishing their set-up procedures. Success is measured by achievement of established Ramp Up plan (time it takes to achieve line rate, staffing, and quality standards). Evaluates quality and assists in troubleshooting operational issues. Follows a defined trigger-point system to ensure the appropriate level of urgency is communicated to management concerning production issues. Interacts with Package Engineering, Scheduling, QA/QC Labs, Inventory Control, Engineering Support, Packaging, and Warehouse personnel to expedite solutions to problems.

             Assists with the repair of packaging machinery in accordance with production requirements to ensure proper operation of machinery. Follow safety precautions to prevent product contamination and injury to self and others. Assist with Maintenance PM program, developing critical parts inventory and assisting with maintenance repair.

             Contributes to the completion of activities and milestones associated with new product launches/Capital Improvements where failure to achieve results may have significant financial impact on the Company. Communicates project status on an on-going basis in the Corporate Engineering meetings and to appropriate departments with associated involvement in the project. Assist Engineers with line trials by ensuring change parts are at the line, aids in setting up the line with the maintenance staff, perform trials, and resolve issues.

             This job requires on-site work at a Mary Kay facility.

Full-time employment
Work Hours - 8 hrs/day - Tuesday-Saturday (40 hrs/week)
Work schedule - 8 hours per day, Tuesday - Saturday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM

             Must have technical knowledge and mechanical aptitude to perform complex start up, debugging, and repairs of packaging machinery, as demonstrated by successful trouble shooting and problem-solving techniques typically acquired through production maintenance experience in a manufacturing facility.

             Ability to read and understand technical instructions and reference materials in order to interpret and apply Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions; perform practical applications of mathematical calculations to solve specific mechanical problems; and use many types of equipment.

             Must have the ability to communicate effectively in order to interface with multiple internal customers as well as equipment vendors, contractors, and others to meet project requirements. Must have the ability to utilize courtesy and tact in interactions with department and Company personnel in the exchange of information and resolution of problems.

             Works to expand trade skills knowledge base via formal and informal means. Signs up for MK-sponsored trade school classes in relevant topics. Seeks opportunities for mentorship learning in trades disciplines from coworkers. Works toward proficiency in welding/brazing, general machining, electronics, controls and mechatronics troubleshooting.

             Must have a working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, CMMS and Informance.

             Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, deadline oriented, forward thinking, multi-tasked, well organized, and have strong attention to detail.

             Must be able to stoop, crouch, kneel, and occasionally move up to 60 lbs. in order to start up, repair, and debug packaging machinery.

             Must have manual dexterity to manipulate and assemble small objects and pieces of machinery.

             Incumbent must demonstrate a safe work history.

Working Conditions:

Job requires exposure to dust, dirt, noise, loud machinery, and vibrations.

             May involve the handling/management of substances designated as hazardous waste by the Environmental Protection Agency. Incumbents assigned such duties must complete an initial training program in hazardous waste management procedures and required annual follow-up training.

             Job is subject to other hazards such as moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, high heat, and high places.

             May require international and domestic travel.
