EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree required. Three years teaching experience with students with significant disabilities required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be currently certified by the New York State Education Department to teach children with special needs.

- Manages staff coverage plan and directs assignments of substitute Teacher Aides
- Assists with timecard management, schedule requests and approvals
- Schedules and conducts parent and district tours as assigned
- Conducts announced and unannounced program safety checks as assigned
- Coordinates repairs and inventory of shared student equipment with the appropriate staff
- Works collaboratively with others to ensure all student equipment is safe and in good repair
- Ensures significant program information or personnel problems are communicated to the Director
- Completes all records and reports in a timely fashion as requested by the Preschool Director
- Serves as part of the emergency management team
- Supports and works in collaboration with the preschool teachers and teaching assistants to create supplemental instructional materials that are aligned with the curriculum and the CCLS.
- Models effective differentiated instruction, classroom management, environment set-up and classroom motivational strategies when requested.
- Collaborates with the Preschool Director to support the needs of teachers and classrooms with the regard to formal and informal student assessments and quality best practice instructional strategies and approaches which ensure data driven decision making and alignment to the CCLS.
- Monitors student instructional and behavioral progress through the use of intermittent fidelity checks.
- Maintains confidentiality of student and staff information.
- Works collaboratively with evaluators to generate necessary reports and attend meetings associated with the evaluation.
- Works with preschool teachers to provide quality supervision, coaching and performance feedback for paraprofessional staff.
- Establishes professional rapport with preschool teachers and teacher aides to increase staff engagement and commitment.
- Works directly with the Director of Preschool Services to ensure quality instruction is delivered in alignment with each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
- Reviews Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to ensure they reflect each student’s ability and projected growth towards meeting the NYS learning standards
- Collects, reviews, and draws meaningful conclusions from student data to ensure instruction meets defined benchmarks and/or goals
- Presents the special educational needs and performance levels for assigned students to the Preschool Committee on Special Education as assigned.
- Ensures that assigned classrooms have appropriate instructional materials and equipment and that these are maintained and utilized properly.
- Provides direct in-classroom consultation and demonstration of educational programs.
