Healthcare Policy Analyst/Associate – Life Sciences
The Marwood Group, a healthcare consulting and advisory firm specializing in providing strategic guidance to financial services firms and healthcare companies, is seeking to add an analyst- or associate-level candidate to its life sciences team in Washington, DC. The role is open to both early-career candidates and those with prior relevant experience.
The individual will be responsible for researching and analyzing the impact of legislative and regulatory activity across the pharmaceutical, medical device, and diagnostics sectors. This role involves working closely with senior Marwood staff in a collaborative, small team environment and conducting independent research, synthesizing findings, and communicating insights on issues related to the FDA, Medicare, and broader federal health policy. This role offers the opportunity to gain meaningful exposure to high-impact policy issues and contribute directly to client-facing work.
Candidates should exhibit knowledge of U.S. healthcare policy from a regulatory and legislative perspective and have strong intellectual curiosity. Senior team members will provide training on key topics and issues; this role is well-suited for early-career candidates who are eager to learn, and over time, the analyst/associate will be expected to apply these learnings independently in day-to-day assignments.
Desired experience:
- Familiarity with the U.S. healthcare system
- Experience analyzing policy issues that impact pharmaceutical, medical device, and medical diagnostics
- Demonstrated knowledge of, or interest in, financial or investment analysis
- 0 – 2 years of relevant experience; strong recent graduates are encouraged to apply
- Undergraduate degree in the life sciences, economics, or finance (recent graduates welcome)
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience at a healthcare consulting firm, finance/investment firm, a relevant federal agency, or in Congress
Candidates should possess the following:
- Ability to conduct independent research
- Strong written communication skills, including facility with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
- Well-developed analytical skills
- A willingness to meet new challenges with enthusiasm
- Takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work with strong attention to detail
- Works collaboratively in a fast-moving, small-team environment, with a proactive and responsive communication style
