We are looking for a dependable and motivated Lumber Yard Associate to become an important part of our team. In this fast-paced, customer-focused position, you’ll help keep our lumber yard operating safely, efficiently, and accurately while providing outstanding service to both contractors and homeowners.

As a Lumber Yard Associate, you’ll be responsible for handling lumber and building materials, loading customer orders, receiving inventory, operating material-handling equipment, and maintaining a clean and organized yard. Whether you have previous experience or are looking to develop your skills, we are willing to train the right person who has a strong work ethic and a desire to learn.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload lumber and building materials using forklifts, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, cranes, and other material-handling equipment.
• Pick, stage, and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently.
• Assist customers with loading materials and provide friendly, helpful service.
• Maintain an organized and clean lumber yard to ensure materials are easily accessible.
• Assist with shipping and receiving by verifying shipments against purchase orders and delivery documents.
• Operate heavy equipment responsibly and safely while loading, unloading, and moving materials.
• Conduct inventory counts and help maintain accurate inventory records.
• Inspect materials for damage and report discrepancies or concerns to the appropriate team member.
• Work as part of a team to keep daily yard operations running smoothly.
• Follow all company safety procedures and applicable OSHA standards.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment for employees and customers.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a lumber yard, warehouse, distribution, construction, or materials-handling environment is preferred but not required.
• Ability to safely operate or learn to operate forklifts, clamp trucks, cranes, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to work as part of a team.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to safely lift and handle heavy materials repeatedly throughout the workday.
• Basic math skills, including measuring, counting, and verifying quantities.
• Ability to follow directions and established safety procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Customer-service mindset with a friendly and helpful attitude.
• Previous shipping and receiving or inventory experience is a plus.
• Equipment training will be provided to the right candidate.
