Cashier Associate (Customer Service Department)

Tokyo Central West LA store is a community-focused Japanese grocery store dedicated to providing fresh produce and quality products to our customers. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and a friendly shopping environment.

We are seeking a friendly and reliable Cashier to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling transactions, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized checkout area.

Here are some items that our our cashier team members do during their shift:  

• Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently
• Greet customers and all co-workers warmly and assist customers with inquiries
• Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions
• Checks IDs for tobacco and alcohol transactions
• Maintain a clean and organized checkout area
• Assists in returning shopping carts and baskets to designated areas
• Reports all irregular issues and problems to the Store Manager for solutions
• Assist with stocking shelves and managing inventory as needed
• Address customer concerns or complaints professionally
• Other signed tasks as needed in the store

Qualifications

• Legal age to sell alcohol and tobacco in the state of California
• Previous cashier or retail experience preferred but not required
• Complete Clerk's Affidavit, etc.
• Strong customer service skills and attitude
• Ability to handle cash and perform basic math calculations
• Consistently, regularly, and accurately provide customer's with exact change
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Be able to de-escalate conflict and have a strong sense of workplace safety when encounter the complicated situation with customers
• Must be punctual and have a positive attitude
• Be able to do the opening and closing for the assigned cash registers
• Deposit till into Glory machine with the correct amount
• Check customer's receipt after each transaction
• Ask the customer if they would like their receipt after each transaction
• Organize and stock Customer Service display areas per store’s layouts, planograms and standards
