Martis Camp is seeking a professional and welcoming Fitness Attendant to join our team for the 2025 summer season! As a Fitness Attendant, you play an integral role in setting a positive tone and delivering an elevated experience for our Members. This role also provides support to our Fitness Director, Fitness Coordinator, Fitness Instructors, and works inter-departmentally with our Food and Beverage, Ladies Locker Room, Men’s Locker Room, and Housekeeping teams to provide an exceptional wellness experience where Members can work out, stay inspired, relax, and renew themselves.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in customer service and/or hospitality, be a team player, possess a positive attitude, a growth mindset, and be a true lover and practitioner of fitness and wellness. This opportunity has the potential to grow into opportunities for future seasons, during winter 2025 and/or next summer and beyond. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Warmly greet Members as they enter the Fitness Center, making a point to learn and use names as often as possible
- Use our Pacesetter reservation system to make, change, and edit reservations, and answer pertinent Member questions as they arise
- Answer phones and emails, fielding Member questions and requests
- Use our POS system to charge members for classes, personal training sessions, and drinks
- Keep the gym and Fitness Studio organized and clean, and re-stock the gym, pool deck, and fitness studio with water and towels as needed
- Uphold our Fitness Center policies, and ensure Members follow those guidelines
- Keep the fitness facility safe, and be ready to respond to an emergency, if needed (CPR and AED training/certification will be provided if not certified)
- Assist in setting up and cleaning up indoor and outdoor fitness classes, including but not limited to helping move patio furniture, setting out yoga mats and exercise equipment, and sanitizing and organizing equipment and mats after class
- Prepare and help maintain the pool deck for service each day, including but not limited to arranging, cleaning, and organizing lounge chairs and tables, stocking and re-stocking poolside restrooms with towels, water, and toiletries, and stocking recyclable drinking cups
- Uphold and maintain a standard of excellence when it comes to keeping the Fitness Center and pool deck tidy and organized, taking pride in the details and its presentation each day
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required 18 years or older
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and weekdays
- Ability to interact and develop positive relationships within the organization
- Effective listening, interpersonal, and guest service skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Maintain high ethical and moral standards.
- Bilingual preferred (English / Spanish)
- Ability to work with little supervision
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and complete assignments within various time constraints
- Minimum 2-3 years of hospitality, customer service, and/or fitness experience in high-end gyms, hotels, resorts, and private clubs preferred
- CPR / First Aid / AED Certification
- Ability to lift items (dumbbells up to 30 lbs., patio furniture up to 50 lbs.)
- Ability to work outside during fitness classes or other events
- Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc
- Ability to work evenings, holidays, and weekends. Work on Saturdays and Sundaysis normally required during the summer and winter operating seasons. Exposure to outside inclement weather conditions, including summer sun.
