Job Summary:
Responsible for welding and assembling metal parts according to precise specifications while maintaining high standards of quality and productivity. This role requires a blend of technical welding skill, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
Knowledge and Skills (Education):
- Completion of welding related courses with certification and/or diploma in welding techniques
- High School education with mechanical aptitude
- Experience with Metal Fabrication- an asset
- Previous welding experience- an asset
- Ability to read drawings, blueprints and specifications- an asset
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervisor
- Minimum 6 months of manufacturing work experience
Major Responsibilities:
- Selecting, measuring, cutting, and joining appropriate metals to specifications.
- Inspect parts for weld quality and distinguish a good weld from a defective weld and causes of the defect.
- Basic Maintenance of welding equipment, in addition to ensuring the gas and wire are properly connected.
- Preparing metals and work surfaces to ensure safe and effective assemblage.
- Interpreting specifications and blueprints accurately.
- Understand Process instruction sheets.
- Determining correct gas ratios.
- Testing the strength of each join during and after project completion.
- Diagnosing issues and troubleshooting as required.
- Liaising with the line manager or supervisor, reporting any issues, and making suggestions for improvement.
Working Conditions: 100 % plant floor (PPE required)
Effort/Physical Demands Constant communication with employees, peers, and management Overtime as required
